Pandigital is one of the popular name in the field of Digital Photo Frames.

Design:

The digital photo frames body:
Pandigital 8.0” digital photo frame looks similar to that of Philips Digital Photo Display. The digital photo frame has stylish black and acrylic wood frames that seamlessly fit into any décor. This wooden frame surrounds the 6.45″ x 4.9” or the eight inch diagonal LCD screen panel. The black frame gives a traditional look and the silver put on a modern look on your digital photo frame. These frames can be swapped according to your wishes. The back of the photo frame sports a flip-out stand that can be used to shore the frame horizontally but not vertically. A keyhole slot is provided at the top of the frame that can be used to mount the unit on the wall using a picture hook or a single screw. The picture hook is not available with the package contents.

Remote Control:
The remote control that comes with the digital photo frame is small in size. It makes the job of navigation very easy. But its petite size makes the remote very prone to be lost. Pandigital is equipped with a groove that is hidden behind the frame to place the remote when not in use. To execute any of the remote control command, you must point it directly to the IR sensor(Infra Red) of the frame at a fairly closer range of about 5 to 6 feet at the maximum.

Screen, memory and connectivity:

The LCD screen has a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels. This Pandigital PAN8002W02T digital picture frame has an internal memory of 128MB. The back of the photo frame has slots for CF (Compact Flash I and II), SD, MMC, MS, MS Pro, XD, Micro Drive and USB drive. The memory card allows you display thousands of pictures, playback of AVI video format and also MP3 audio files. You can also choose to transfer only the images leaving the audio and video files. This digital photo frame has a wide memory of 128MB which can hold all of your media types. You can also upload the photos from your camera or computer’s memory via the USB cable. One important point that the users must keep in mind while connecting their digital photo frames to their PC is that, they have to be patient as the system may take a minute or two to recognise all the slots and internal memory of your frame after it displays it as a USB storage device on your PC.

No optimisation:

Certain photo frames such as Philips and Smartparts, do a process called optimisation while transferring the images. Optimisation is a process in which the pictures are resized by shrinking them to the size of the photo frame display. But Pandigital 8.0” digital photo frame does not optimise your images, and hence if you had shot your pictures at a higher resolution, your images are just going to eat-up your internal memory at a faster rate. If you know earlier that you are shooting images to be stored on a digital photo frame, then you can either reduce the resolution settings in your camera or even crop them yourself before loading them into your frame.

The interface:

The interface provided in the photo frame, though not ultra-slick, is user friendly in most of the areas. The only exception is the area of the digital-imaging novices which may consume time and lead you to the user manual to understand the meaning and functionalities. When an USB drive is loaded with images, audio and video, the frame will have no difficulties in recognising the various media types. You can make use of the small remote control that is provided to navigate through the menu system.

You can access the set-up options not only from the button on the remote, but also by holding down the exit button to get into the menu. This important menu allows you to make adjustments in the slide shows, copy, delete files and make picture tweaks. The slide show option allows you to choose from around six effects that are available.

Performance:

The display is just fine and can not be said as very good because of its less picture density and the display did exhibit the jaggier effect. Yet, the photo frame produces sharp pictures. A feature that would allow you to automatically push the photos via internet which is offered by Ceiva photo frames is not available in this model. The Wi-Fi capability that will allow you to view an online photo gallery which is available in Kotak models like Kodak EasyShare EX811 Digital Picture Frame is also absent in this model of Pandigital. The digital picture frame lagged a little while playing certain type of video and the built-in speakers sound tinny. But the player must be appreciated for its playback capability of both audio and video.

If you are not cared about its online incapability, then Pandigital 8 inch digital picture frame is a solid choice for you.
