Aluratek ADMPF210 10.5 inch Digital Picture Frame
Aluratek ADMPF210 High Resolution Digital Photo Frame
Aluratek ADMPF210 Digital Picture Frame is a photo frame that performs well, but since this is a last year’s model, it is struggling hard to compete with this day’s models. This is because, the current models have larger screens and Wi-Fi features.
Design:
This Aluratek ADMPF210 10.5″ digital photo frame has a simple but a cute design. It has a wood bezel surrounding the LCD screen. Some of the control buttons and the power button are placed in the right hand side of the bezel and the other components like the SD memory card slot, compact flash slot, XD picture card slot and the USB jack are present in the left side. Since the frame has a deep back, it sticks out of the wall. The frame has keyholes that allow you to hang it up on the wall only in a horizontal way. But it is not a very wise idea to hang it on the wall because this frame does not operate on battery or any wireless capability, so a wire will be hanging from the wall to your plug point which would look abnormal.
ADMPF210 has a stand behind it that allows you to place the frame horizontally. But there are no options for you to place it vertically, so you have to either place it in a horizontal way or leave it as it is. The frame comes fully assembled and so there will not be any need for you to attach stands and bezels as in the case of the other digital photo frames. As the frame is already assembled, it is very easy in terms of set-up.

Display and remote:
Aluratek ADMPF210’s display is a 10.5 inch TFT display screen which has a resolution of 1,024×768-pixel. The screen has the brightness and contrast set properly. The screen can display a wide range of colours as well as the gray scale, but subtle banding can be witnessed in some of the images.
You can get into the menu of the Aluratek ADMPF210 10.5″ digital picture frame by using the small remote control that comes with the frame, and this is the only way by which you can access the menu. It would have been better if a remote control was provided in the frame as the remote control is very small and is very prone of getting lost. And another worrying fact is that the battery is operated by a not very easy to get CR2025 battery. Hence, you are in real trouble if you loose the remote.
Menus:
Using the menu of the frame you can connect the frame to a PC, edit the files in the internal memory or flash drive or a memory card, and using the menu you can also change the setting of the brightness, colour, tint, contrast etc. You can also present the photos as slide shows in various speeds and there are options for you to choose from nine transition effects but there are no options provided for you to have random transitions. The last menu options name might confuse you as it is named as “separate windows” which actually means that you can view up to four images in the same window.
Video and audio:
Apart from displaying the images, this digital frame is also supposed to play the videos. Aluratek ADMPF210 did play videos shot in certain cameras did well, the frame choked when asked to play some of the videos shot in other cameras. The frame also did struggle in moving from one clip to another. When you try out some of the rejected clips, it might either generate “codec not supported” error or the frame might just hang forcing you to shut down the frame and start it again to proceed. Aluratek ADMPF210 allows you to play MP3 files but you will not be much pleased about its built-in speakers. It is a worrying fact that the frame is reproducing the music in its worst possible format.
One good feature with the frame is its clock and calendar. They allow you to set the timing in which the frame has to be switched on and off which is a great option as most of us keep the frame on even during nights when there is no one around to view them.
Memory and features:
The optimisation feature that is available in some of the recent digital frames is absent in ADMPF210. By optmisation, we mean the process where the images are scaled down while copying from any of the external devices to the frames 256MB of internal memory. Certain frames do slowdown considerably during slideshows if the images are larger but, in this case the frame did well and was swift. The only reason why you would need to resize your image will be, to have more storage space. You must be careful that you do not size them below 1,024×768 to enjoy the frame’s great picture quality. This picture frame comes with 120 day limited warranty.
Verdict:
Aluratek ADMPF210 Digital Photo Frame performs well as a basic frame with a good display and good choice of slideshow transitions. But its disadvantages like that of the absence of the wireless features, annoying video and audio features would make you think of a better option like that of Kodak EasyShare EX1011 digital picture frame which offers similar display quality and still is able to provide us with the Wi-Fi capabilities.
